On Thursday night, Tucker Carlson released his highly anticipated interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. While Putin no doubt put a favorable spin on events, nevertheless he came across as a sharp and intelligent man. He spent about 30 minutes reciting a history lesson about Russia. He cited facts and figures off the top of his head, including those concerning the United States. He didn’t seem to take offense at any of Tucker’s questions.
But earlier on the same day, a special counsel investigating whether our President, Joe Biden, illegally stored classified documents in his garage, announced its decision. They concluded that he willfully kept classified documents but chose not to prosecute him because a jury would see him as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” In their interview with him, Biden couldn’t remember what years he served as Vice President and didn’t come close to remembering what year his son died.
Later, Biden stumbled through a press conference where he mixed up Mexico and Egypt while he looked in confusion at a sheaf of notes in his hand. There is no way he could have made it through a two-hour interview with Tucker the way Putin did.
The contrast between the two presidents couldn’t have been greater. It also probably explains why Biden won’t negotiate with Putin – Biden wouldn’t stand a chance.
The Biden Problem
Yet Biden is running for a second term and Democrats are saying they’ll vote for him. It’s getting harder, though, for them to convince themselves, let alone anyone else, that Biden is fully functioning.
Already there are calls to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, which allows for replacing a President, at least on a temporary basis, if he is no longer capable of carrying out his duties.
Not remembering when he was Vice President, considering his term ended less than 10 years ago, and not remembering when his son died, also less than 10 years ago and something a father would never forget if his brain was functioning properly, sure cast a lot of doubt about Biden’s ability to carry out the duties of his office.
For the 25th Amendment to take effect, Biden would have to voluntarily remove himself, or Vice President Kamala Harris and a majority of the President’s cabinet would have to declare him unable to carry out his duties. That would mean Harris would become the Acting President in charge of our country and …
Oh boy, that wouldn’t be good. Is it possible that when picking between the two of them, that the stumbling old man with a poor memory is still the better choice? Yikes!
