Green energy will be a big benefit to some – but it won’t be you
Most of the items needed for green energy are produced in one country, where curiously many politicians have financial interests
I increased the value of my car the other day – I filled the tank with gas.
My total was $43, more than I’d ever spent to fill my tank. It’s a good thing I still had a quarter tank left when I stopped.
Gas prices are crazy and the villain in the story is Russia. At least that’s the official version. President Biden has finally got around to banning oil imports from Russia (we were buying about 7 percent of our daily supply from our sworn enemy). He plans to make up that difference by getting other countries to up their production but those leaders are ignoring his phone calls. The solution may be to buy oil from Iran and Venezuela, countries run by possibly more despicable dictators than Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
The Real Agenda
But this is all just a cover for the real agenda being pushed by the elite on the left – the crisis of climate change.
The issue of high gas prices and possible shortages is easy to solve – we return to President Trump’s policies of drilling and finishing the Keystone pipeline. Under Trump we had a surplus of oil, driving down prices worldwide, and it wouldn’t take long to regain that status.
But Biden has vowed that he won’t do that. Instead, the message we keep hearing, over and over, is that we have to solve the climate crisis (but do not question whether we actually have a climate crisis or how any proposed changes would solve that).
President Biden and his mouthpiece, Jen Psaki, have repeatedly told us that the problem isn’t high gas prices, it’s that we aren’t developing enough green energy, like wind turbines and solar panels. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and (former) comedian Stephen Colbert have told us to stop whining about gas prices and just fork out $70,000 for an electric vehicle. Former Secretary of State and current Presidential envoy for climate (seriously, that’s his title) hopes that the stupid little war in Ukraine won’t keep us from focusing on the real issue – climate change (hey, Ukrainians, quit worrying about bombs and buy some solar panels already).
But would changing to this green energy help us?
Green Energy Manufacturing and Components
Let’s take a look at solar panels. The main component needed for them is silicon. The largest supplier of silicon is China. Second is Russia.
A solar panel is encased in aluminum frames. China manufactures 73 percent of these frames. Of course, you also need various protectants like glass and casings. Care to guess where 60 percent of those come from? Yep, China.
Well, what about wind turbines? The largest manufacturer of wind turbines is in Denmark and the second largest in Spain. But, six of the top 10 makers of wind turbines are located in…China.
At least we know electric vehicles are made in the United States. Tesla is here, and Chevrolet, Ford and other U.S. manufacturers make them as well. Whew! So all we need is batteries for these cars.
EV batteries use a variety of minerals obtained from mining, many from Africa and South America. Of course, these minerals have to be refined before they can be used…and the leading refiner is China. Two-thirds of battery manufacturing is done in China, South Korea and Japan.
Huh. It’s starting to look like switching to green energy would benefit China far more than it would the United States. So why would our leaders be pushing this so hard?
Guess Who Benefits
I don’t want to shock you with this news, but many of our politicians have investments in Chinese companies, to the tune of millions of dollars. Some politicians, like Biden, Kerry, Nancy Pelosi and others, have spouses or children who receive millions of dollars from Chinese companies, either through investments or in other compensation. If China begins producing more climate-crisis-saving components like solar panels and wind turbines, it stands to reason that at least some of these politicians will reap huge benefits.
Now, I know it’s crazy to think that politicians would be more motivated by greed than by serving the American people. I’m sure they have only our best interests at heart and that the high gas prices and the push for green energy is purely for our well-being.
So next time you’re standing at the gas pump watching the dollars scrolling up to ridiculous numbers, feel reassured that this is Russia’s fault and we can change all of that by enriching China and our politicians – I mean, solving the climate crisis.
