Legal Drugs May Be Killing Us
Ozempic is the latest ‘miracle’ drug that has potentially dire side effects
The good news is that pharmacological companies have created medicines for almost anything that ails you. The bad news is that those same medicines can kill you – or at least make the conditions worse.
The classic example from the past few years is the covid-19 “vaccination.” This was the medicine touted as the savior of the pandemic, just take the jab(s) and you won’t ever have to worry about getting covid again – thus said the President, Vice President, heads of health departments and many others.
We now know they didn’t work and we have credible proof that those who received the shots are more susceptible to catching covid than those who didn’t. But there is mounting evidence that those shots caused a multitude of health issues for many hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of Americans.
Those adverse effects range from mild soreness and aches on one end to death at the other extreme. In between are a variety of health issues, often affecting the immune, neurologic and cardiac systems. Some of those have created debilitating conditions.
But those aren’t the only vaccines creating problems. Some researchers are sure there is a link between some childhood vaccines and the increasing number of children with autism and severe allergies. They have received intense pressure to discontinue the research and have been called disseminators of misinformation.
Ozempic, the Latest Miracle Drug
The latest miracle drug is Ozempic, a diabetes drug that is fast becoming popular as a weight-loss icon. People who take it quickly shed 20 or more pounds without having to bother with pesky diets or exercise.
But like a poisoned apple, Ozempic and similar drugs may seem shiny and delicious but have serious side effects. Sounding the alarm about Ozempic is Calley Means, a former food and pharmaceutical consultant who has turned from those industries to found TrueMed, a company that seeks the root causes of health issues and treat them without drug intervention.
In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Means noted that 50 percent of American teens and 80 percent of adults are overweight. Not surprisingly, a third of kids and up to 60 percent of adults are pre-diabetic.
But he said giving them Ozempic isn’t a solution because the problem is not that they have an Ozempic deficiency. These problems are caused by poor health decisions and an overabundance of unhealthy foods.
So why are doctors prescribing Ozempic and similar drugs to their overweight patients instead of encouraging healthier choices? The answer is alarmingly simple – Ozempic costs $20,000 per patient and must be taken for life to keep the weight off.
Eighty percent of the adult population rounds out at 200 million people. You don’t have to be a math whiz to understand that Ozempic makes cash registers ring. In it’s first year on the market, Ozempic brought in $17 billion for manufacturer Novo Nordisk of Denmark (where it’s use is forbidden). Financial giant Goldman-Sachs estimates weight-loss drugs will boost the U.S. economy by 1 percent over the next decade.
But there are side effects to Ozempic, such as stomach paralysis that causes gastrointestinal issues. When people go off Ozempic, they almost immediately return to their previous weight. Some continue to experience serious stomach problems. And, like so many drugs these days, one of the side effects is increased depression and suicidal thoughts.
Other Drug Issues in America
Still, this isn’t the only legal drug issue in America. The average 65-year-old American takes seven drugs (that’s the average – I’m 65 and I take zero prescription drugs, so to reach an average of seven, some other 65-year-old is taking 14). Many of those drugs are ones they’ll take for life.
Many drugs, however, don’t actually improve the condition. They’re not intended as cures; they simply “maintain” the condition from growing worse. Which is why they must be taken for life, paid for by insurance companies and the government.
It’s not just old people, though. Means said that 25 percent of adult women take SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) for depression. Now they’re even prescribed for teens. Anyone want to guess what a major side effect is of SSRIs? Yep, more depression and suicidal thoughts.
About 20 percent of teens (almost all male) now take Adderall for ADHD to help them concentrate. This is the same drug that teens took illegally in the 1960s and ‘70s that went by the colloquial name of “speed.” It stimulates the body to be able to concentrate and stay alert. This is the same drug that was used by the Nazis in World War II to get their soldiers to make long marches faster and without the need for sleep. Adderall is also a kissing cousin of methamphetamine.
Adderall, like meth, can become addictive. Among the side effects are sleeplessness, high blood pressure, heart attacks and, not surprisingly, depression and suicidal thoughts.
Middle aged men aren’t free from drug prescriptions. Many men 40 or over are on statins to lower their cholesterol in an effort to prevent strokes and heart attacks. These can cause digestive issues, liver damage and brain fog – but at least not suicidal thoughts. Oh, and there’s growing evidence that they do little to nothing to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
Despite all of this, there are some good drugs, and even the ones I discussed can benefit people who really need them. But for many people, probably the greatest majority, the answer isn’t one of these drugs but some simple lifestyle changes.
A good nutritional diet and exercise would eliminate many issues for most people. There are also non-prescription nutritional supplements that can do much of what the prescription drugs do (something the pharma community doesn’t want you to know because those don’t put a dime in their pockets). A professional chiropractor can relieve many symptoms without drug intervention. And functional doctors can pinpoint specifically where your vitamin and mineral deficiencies are and get you what you really need.
In other words, we don’t have to take miracle drugs that won’t cure us and may kill us. We have choices.
