Things are Going Wrong Around Here
Illegal immigrants seem to have more rights than U.S. citizens
Perhaps you’re like many other Americans who are planning an airplane flight to another part of the country. Tickets aren’t cheap – depending on where you’re going and when, just one of the cheapest tickets could range from $400 to $700. That includes, of course, various taxes; in other words, taxes on some of the income you had left after federal, state and local governments carved off their share.
But you buy the ticket anyway. Now come the grueling lines where you must show your picture ID card several times in order to obtain your ticket and then board the plane. There’s no getting on board without the proper identification showing you are who you are and not some foreign terrorist. But hey, that’s just how our system works, right? Unless….
Unless, of course, you’ve just entered the country illegally and are a citizen of one of the countries that exports terrorists. Then none of that applies. You can just get on board and fly anywhere you want to.
A few days ago a citizen of the United States boarded a plane in Texas and found herself sitting next to someone who had just illegally crossed the border. He showed her his paperwork, which she photographed, identifying that he had illegally come into the United States.
But with that paperwork he could board a plane to fly anywhere he wanted to, without buying a ticket or showing any ID.
Money for Nothing and Get Out of Jail Free
Or suppose you’re like thousands of American citizens who are squeezing every penny because bad government policies have inflated inflation rates and now everything from a gallon of gas to a stick of butter costs 50 percent more than it used to. Wouldn’t it be nice if some government just handed you $10,000?
Of course, no government would ever do that. Unless….
Unless, that is, you happen to be in the country illegally and have no standing as a citizen. Then the city of New York, and perhaps other cities, will issue you a debit card loaded with $10,000.
Now, suppose you committed some kind of crime, say like standing on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 and silently praying. And then, since the Capitol police had opened the doors, you walked around inside for 10 minutes, peacefully observing one of the bastions of our freedom.
That, as one grandmother found out this week, has a penalty of one year in prison, plus lots of public shaming by Democrat politicians and media talking heads. But that’s how our justice system works, you commit a crime, you spend time in jail. Unless….
Unless you’re an illegal alien who has committed several crimes. Then you’d be released after each crime to roam the streets again until finally you assaulted an innocent college coed and killed her, as one illegal immigrant from Venezuela did. Then you might actually be put in prison, but many Democrat politicians and media talking heads will tell everyone that you’re the true victim in all of this. You certainly won’t be called an illegal!
Our Eyes Aren’t Deceiving Us
There’s a line from a 1970s song by Joe Jackson that fits these situations well: “’Cause if my eyes don’t deceive me there’s something going wrong around here.”
It might seem like we’re being deceived here. None of this makes sense – surely hardworking citizens who pay taxes and elect our officials wouldn’t be treated worse than people from another country who entered here illegally. Right?
Oh, but our eyes aren’t deceiving us, there is something wrong going on around here. What’s wrong is that our government is playing us for chumps. They realize that 80 percent of Americans, possibly more, aren’t paying attention. In fact, most citizens don’t want to know. Like Sgt. Schultz in the old Hogan’s Heroes TV show, they’re saying, “I see nothing! I know nothing!”
There’s a reason all this is happening and it’s pretty much what you’d expect: Bringing in millions of people who are beholden to you means they’re likely to vote for you. At least that’s what the Democrats are hoping.
Wait a minute, you say. Non-citizens can’t vote in our elections. That’d be illegal.
Do you really think a government that can get away with what I’ve described above can’t find a way to let non-citizens vote? There’s a reason Democrats are fighting so hard against voter ID laws. This week, in fact, there are reports of a huge increase in people without any identification registering to vote. Gee, I wonder who those people could be?
Obviously, all of this could end up creating huge changes in the United States we’ve known and the way it was envisioned by our founders. I’m not talking about changes in a hundred years or even a decade from now. The changes could start by this time next year if Joe Biden and other Democrats maintain power.
Because there’s definitely something going seriously wrong around here.
