Treason at the Border
Giving aid and comfort to the enemy is defined as treason by the Constitution. Is that what our federal elected officials are doing with a wide-open southern border?
According to the United States Constitution, someone who gives aid and comfort to our enemies is guilty of treason. At what point does what’s happening on our southern border qualify as aid and comfort? And, perhaps more importantly, does that mean our President, Vice President and Congress are all guilty of treason?
What’s happening on our southern border is that people are streaming across illegally by the hundreds of thousands and no one is making an effort to stop them. In July alone the border agents caught 210,000 of these illegal immigrants. That put the total over 1.1 million in just the first seven months of 2021.
To give you some perspective, if all 1.1 million had settled in a single area, they would now be the ninth largest city in the United States (and 44th largest state). If just the 210,000 in July had all congregated in one area, they’d be the 108th largest city. In other words, that’s a lot of people.
But according to one estimate, the border patrol is capturing just 68 percent of those crossing. That means another half million people snuck into the United States without our knowledge.
And there’s no sign of them slowing down. They’re still coming by the thousands every day from all over the world. At one point people from 150 countries had been apprehended; there are only 195 countries in the world.
No Efforts Toward Border Enforcement
Meanwhile, nothing is done about it. Other than Fox News, reporting about it is almost nonexistent in the mainstream corporate media. Although they publicly say otherwise, the President and Vice President seem to welcome the immigrants by their actions – transporting them around the country and not enforcing any requirements for them to appear in court regarding their illegal entry. Even few members of Congress other than those representing border districts have voiced any significant opposition to what amounts to a foreign invasion.
But how does that connect with aiding and comforting the enemy? Surely I can’t mean that these poor, helpless, downtrodden people are enemies? After all, they’re simply coming here for a better life.
I’m sure that does in fact describe the majority of them. But not all illegal immigrants are that innocent – some are indeed actual enemies of this country (and I’m guessing that that’s especially true among the 500,000 who have eluded the authorities).
Some are Enemies
Here are some of the enemies that are arriving in our country.
Criminals and Criminal Organizations. We already know from arrests that some horrific criminals and gangs have slithered into the United States. Unfortunately, most of them don’t arrive with any membership cards to these organizations, so there’s no quick way for the border patrol to identify them. Once here, they are involved in such activities as drug distribution, sex trafficking, gun running and other criminal and gang mayhem, all which endanger at least some legal citizens.
Fentanyl Distributers. The worst of the criminals may be those who are bringing the deadly drug fentanyl into the country. It is 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine and just a few grains mixed in with other drugs can cause a fatal overdose. So far this year the border agents have seized more than 7,000 pounds of it, nearly twice as much as all of last year, and more than enough to kill everyone in the country. How much more has been smuggled past the agents?
Last year more than 90,000 people died of drug overdoses, the majority of them involving fentanyl. This obviously endangers lives of citizens and makes these smugglers our enemies.
Carriers of Covid-19 and Other Diseases. One of the reasons we ask people to go through legal immigration channels is to screen for health issues. Many of the illegal immigrants arrive from countries with poor medical facilities, and many are too poor to even afford what exists. So they come into the United States with diseases like covid-19.
Estimates from those tested is that 10 to 18 percent of those apprehended have covid-19 – that’s 100,000 to 200,000! Unfortunately, the sheer numbers mean some don’t get tested at all and few are quarantined. They’re not required to wear masks or be vaccinated. So if covid is the absolute stone-dead killer that the President and Vice President warn us about, then these infected people wandering among our citizens definitely are enemies.
Actual Sworn Enemies. The United States is hated by many countries, and hated by citizens in many countries. One of the reasons it takes so long to board a flight and why you can’t take more than 3 ounces of bath gel onto a plane is that we are terrified of terrorists recreating 9/11.
Yet we have virtually nothing in place to ensure they aren’t sliding into our country via the southern border. As I mentioned, people have been apprehended from 150 countries. How would our border agents be able to spot that any of them are actual terrorists? They certainly aren’t entering the border carrying bombs with lighted fuses. So it probably already has happened that actual combatant enemies live among us.
Is it Treason?
The Constitution states that our union was formed to “insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty…” All members of Congress and the Vice President swear oaths to defend the Constitution “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
When they allow more than 1 million people to cross our borders virtually unchecked, they disrupt our domestic tranquility, destroy our common defense and fail to promote our general welfare, which then endangers our blessings of liberty. They are no longer living up to their oath to defend the Constitution and by virtue of that, to defend us.
By not taking any means necessary to stop this illegal migration, they are de facto welcoming these people into our country – both the poor and downtrodden as well as people who are outright enemies. This is aid and comfort to our enemies. And the Constitution describes that as treason.
